Dr. John Williamson
John Williamson graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College with honours in 2005. He spent a year as an intern at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. Throughout his career he has been fortunate enough to work at and direct some of the busiest emergency clinics in Canada. He has been the Chief Veterinarian at the Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic, the Head of ER at the Veterinary Emergency Clinic and Referral Centre in downtown Toronto (scene of the popular TV show ER Vets) and a partner and head of Emergency for the Guardian Group in Edmonton.
John completed a certificate in advanced imaging in 2012 and to date has performed over 2000 abdominal ultrasounds. He is currently working on becoming only the second boarded practitioner in Alberta. John left emergency medicine in 2015 when the opportunity to move to the Canmore and work at the Bow River Veterinary Centre presented itself.
John and his partner Erin welcomed their first human baby, Madelyn, to the family in 2014. She adores animals and can often be seen at the clinic trying to feed the clinic cat Zack (despite the fact he is on a diet!). John has three fur-babies; Nala – an 8-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback with attitude, Cairo – a 7-year-old Boston Terrier with too much energy and Poppy – an 8-year-old miniature Dachshund who only pees in the house when it is too cold to go outside. In his off-time (which almost never happens) he can be found hiking, mountain biking, and trying to learn how to ski.
