Kalina grew up on a working Maple farm in Nova Scotia where she developed her love and appreciation for animals and the outdoors. Growing up around livestock protection dogs and riding horses competitively taught her the unique bond that can be built with animals and how those relationships can change you forever. This upbringing also taught her the importance of hard work, dedication and perseverance when it comes to matters you believe in. Kalina went on to complete her Bachelor of Business Administration at Saint Francis Xavier University, spent time travelling and then landed in Edmonton for 4 years working in the corporate world before she could no longer ignore the mountains calling. Kalina fell in love with Dog Sledding when she went on her first tour in 2012. Upon moving to Canmore, Alberta; she immediately began exploring volunteer opportunities with sled dogs. Kalina is excited and honored to be able to use her education, professional experience and passion to advocate in support of the humane treatment of sled dogs across Canada.
